| Description |
The data network service provides wired Local Area Network (LAN) access to the network resources of the University of Idaho as well as the Internet, Internet2 (I2) and National Lambda Rail (NLR). The data network service provides Wide Area Network (WAN) services to many University of Idaho campuses across the state.

| Eligibility |
Data Networking services are available to students, faculty, staff, departments, retirees, contractors and vendors.

| Cost | There are no usage, access, or maintenance charges for the data network service. There is a charge for new equipment and Wide Area Network (WAN) services. The estimated costs for standard network equipment are: 24-port 100Mbps Switch - $450+ 48-port 100Mbps Switch - $780+ 24-port 1Gbps Switch - $1600+ 48-port 1Gbps Switch - $2700+ The standard WAN service is either a point-to-point T1 or a virtual connection starting at 10Mbps through Idaho Regional Optical Network (IRON). Cost for, and availability of, WAN services vary by city. |
