Self-Help: Installing Office 2013

Installing Office 2013

This tutorial applies to the following operating system(s):

Students and Employees with the University of Idaho are provided Microsoft Office Pro Plus at no extra cost as part of their Office 365 email account. This tutorial will assist you in downloading and installing Microsoft Office 2013 for Windows through Office 365.

Step 1:

Change your License

Please note: Step 1 is only for Faculty and Staff. Students are automatically licensed for Microsoft Office Pro Plus.

Navigate to the Account Management page at https://help.uidaho.edu and log in using your NetID username and password. Once logged in, use the menu to the right to select University Software and then Office 365 License.

This link will take you to the Office365 license page, which will show your account and give you the option to upgrade to an A3 license. You must upgrade your account before being able to download Office 2011 for Mac.

Step 2:

Log in to OWA

Navigate and log in to Office 365 by going to https://owa.uidaho.edu (for faculty/staff) or https://vandals.uidaho.edu (for students) and log in.

Once logged in, click the gear icon at the top-right of the page and select Office 365 settings, then software from the menu that comes up to be taken to the Office 365 software page.

Step 3:

The Office 365 software screen will have a link to download Office, as well as a list of the machines that have Office associated with your account. You can install Microsoft Office Pro Plus on up to five machines concurrently using your account. This screen will also allow you to deactivate an Office installation from an old machine.

To download Office Pro Plus, click the install button.

Step 4:

Double-click the downloaded file to begin installation of Office 2013. Installation is straight-forward; follow the instructions of the installer, entering your full email address when prompted to authenticate your installation.

Office will guide you through the installation process with a video of new features in Office Pro Plus. Office will also prompt you to participate in their Customer Experience Program as well as keeping Office up to date.

Once installed, you can launch any Office Application from your start menu or start screen depending on your version of Windows.
