Items and Services Suitable for Sale in a Shopping Cart Environment
Welcome to Market Place!
Marketplace is a shopping-cart equipped, store based ecommerce environment available for use by university departments and
If your campus unit would like to sell products or services online, Marketplace is the application for you! The system lets you display merchandise, take orders, fulfill orders, and automatically collects, tracks, and accounts for sales tax and deposits the revenue directly to your UI budget.
With Marketplace, your campus unit can be up and running with a full-featured store in as little as 5 working days.
There is no software or hardware to buy. You only need a Web browser and an internet connection.
You can use Marketplace for "tangible" items such as printed materials, supplies and other merchandise, and also for "intangible" items such as reservations, tickets, etc.
Marketplace is integrated into Banner, and so sales revenue is attributed directly to your budget(s) in real time. In addition, sales tax is automatically and correctly handled when it is required.
Applications that Collect Information or Automate Processes and Need to Collect Payments
ITS offers two solutions to enable ecommerce functions to web-based applications. For UI-developed web applications, there is a web-based API that you are encouraged to use to enable payment functions. This API is Banner-integrated, so transactions can be posted to a customer’s Banner accounts receivable account as either a payment or a deposit, or transactions can be recorded as miscellaneous revenue. The revenue from these transactions will post to the budget or budgets that you specify.
The University of Idaho uses Touchnet to process payments. Touchnet is a licensed payment platform with existing Banner integration and a list of integrated vendors.
For help or information regarding either UI developed applications, or integrating third-party applications with the UI ecommerce system, please contact Terry Quinn by email or by phone at (208) 885-4283.
