Self Help: Changing your NetID password

Changing your NetID Password

This tutorial applies to the following operating system(s):

Windows        Macintosh

Learn to set your NetID password at the University of Idaho. The NetID must be 8 characters or longer in length and meet the password guidelines listed on the help site. Passwords 15 characters or longer will expire after 400 days, shorter passwords expire after 90 days. If your password is already expired you may need to use your security profile to access the password reset system.

Step 1

Log in to the account management page at https://help.uidaho.edu using your NetID username and password. If you have not set up your security profile, you will be greeted with a pop-up asking you to set up your security profile.  Information on setting up your security profile is available here.

You can also opt out of the security profile, but this will mean that anytime you forgot your password expires, you will need to visit the ITS Help Desk in person to have it reset.

Step 2

Once you’re logged into the account management page, click on ‘Change Password’ on the left-hand menu under ‘Account Utilities’.

Step 3

Make sure the account whose password you want to set is selected.  Enter the new password for the accounts. Once all the password requirements have been meet, you can click on ‘Set New Password’ and the system will set the NetID password.

Step 4

Finally make sure you are greeted with a ‘Success’ message so you know the change was successful. If you have any issues please contact the ITS Help Desk.
