Office365

Microsoft Office 365 is on campus at the University of Idaho! All students, faculty, staff, alumni and retirees who have a University of Idaho email address are licensed with Microsoft Office 365, the email service provider of the University of Idaho.

The email client is just one facet of Office 365. Get to know Office 365 and the multitude of features it offers with our tutorials below. Because of licensing, some features are available only to faculty/staff members at the University of Idaho and are labeled as such.

Office 365 Email:

The Office 365 email system is the core of Microsoft Office 365, offering a feature-rich robust web mail client.

These tutorials will assist you in setting up your email in Outlook, using various email clients such as Outlook, iOS and Android, the Outlook Web App (OWA), and general email features.

Microsoft Office 2011/2013 Pro Plus

Office 365 for students, as well as board appointed faculty and staff, comes with a full versions of Microsoft Office Pro Plus 2013 for Windows or 2011 for Mac. All of the Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and others are included.

Faculty and Staff will need to upgrade their Office 365 License to A3 before downloading Office ProPlus, instructions for which are provided in the tutorials. Students do not need to upgrade their license - your current Office 365 license provides Office Pro Plus.

Best of all, Microsoft Office is provided at no extra cost to all students as well as board-appointed faculty and staff at the University of Idaho as part of our Microsoft Licensing Agreement. Not only do you get access to the software, but you can install it on up to five separate machines! Click the above link for general Office Pro Plus information, or you can view our tutorials on installing Office Pro Plus for Mac or Installing Office Pro Plus for Windows.

Microsoft Lync Client:

Microsoft Lync is a full-fledged, feature-rich instant messaging and communications client that is available to all students, faculty, staff, retirees and alumni with an active Office 365 account.

Lync allows instant messaging, VOIP and video calling, document and screen sharing, whiteboard functionality and much more. You can learn more about Lync and its features on the Microsoft Lync tutorials section of our website.

Microsoft OneDrive:

OneDrive @ University of Idaho is now available to all UI Faculty, Staff, and Students. Unlike the ProPlus licensing, this is available to all board appointed and TH employees.  OneDrive can be used to share documents with others across the university.

Faculty and staff will need to upgrade their license at the Account Management http://help.uidaho.edu/ website.  While upgrading you’ll see the terms and conditions, which outline appropriate use for Faculty and Staff. Students do not have any restrictions on what they can upload and share on OneDrive.

Tutorials in this section will provide information on how to use OneDrive, how to setup the desktop sync client, and more.
