Academic Resources

If you are having issues in any of your classes, the first person to speak with is your professor. The office of International Student, Scholar and Faculty Services (ISSFS) is also a resource that is always available to you. If you ever have questions or concerns about your academics, the ISSFS is here to assist you in getting the help you need. 

Academic Advising Center
The Academic Advising Center provides academic advising and referral information for undeclared majors. The staff also helps undecided students define their educational goals and select a major that best matches their interests. Advisers are available to answer questions about grading, core curriculum requirements, class scheduling, and registration procedures. The Academic Advising Center is located in the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC), Rm. 231, or (208) 885-9831. Ask for help as soon as you suspect you are having academic difficulty.

Tutoring & Academic Assistance Program
The Tutoring and Academic Assistance Program (TAAP) offers free tutoring for one hour per week in more than 100 courses. Tutoring is available to students enrolled in undergraduate courses at the University. Small group tutoring sessions are available during the day as well as during the evening in general areas such as biology, chemistry, physics, etc. For more information, call (208) 885-6307. This office is also located on the 3rd floor of the UI Commons, Rm. 306.

Library
The University of Idaho Library supports the teaching and research needs of the University's faculty and students with books, microfiche, and periodicals on a variety of essential topics. The library has an online catalog that provides fast and easy access. Additional services include computer searches, interlibrary loans, a film and video library, and an audio-visual learning laboratory. At the beginning of each semester, the library conducts library tours and an orientation to the library computer system. Watch for details in the student newspaper – the Argonaut. Writing Center
The Writing Center provides free tutoring to students writing papers for any class at any level of study. It is open from 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on weekends. The Writing Center is located on the 3rd floor of the Idaho Commons, Rm. 323, or call (208) 885-6644 to schedule an appointment.
