Kathryn Schiffelbein
Manager, American Language & Culture Program
Kathryn Schiffelbein earned her M.S. in Adult Organizational Leadership and Learning at the University of Idaho. She received her TESOL training at Western Washington University. She collaborates with ALCP staff and faculty to create a respectful and inclusive learning environment focused on student needs. Kathryn enjoys the full-circle process of program development: idea generation, development and implementation. During her free time you can find her surfing in the cold waters of the Pacific Ocean, river kayaking in Idaho and taking walks with her husband and dog.

Laila Cornwall
Laila Cornwall
Senior International Student Advisor, American Language & Culture Program
Laila Cornwall earned her Bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences and Master’s Degree in Business Administration through the Executive MBA Program at the University of Idaho. She was born and raised in Denmark and has lived in Moscow, Idaho since 1996. Laila assists ALCP students with visa and academic issues, cultural differences, travel plans as well as adjusting to college life at the University of Idaho. She also coordinates and leads cultural activities for ALCP students throughout the year. In her free time she enjoys reading, sewing, and spending time with her family doing many outdoor activities including camping, hiking, biking and fishing.

Luisa Uribe
Student Services Coordinator
Luisa Uribe organizes weekly activities and events to help students acclimate to living and studying in the U.S. She provides individual and group advising to international students in areas such as cultural, academic, employment, health, personal matters and non-immigrant issues. She is completing her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science at the University of Idaho with a minor in Spanish. She was raised in Colombia and has lived in the U.S. for several years which helps her relate and support students in their cultural transition. Luisa enjoys reading, skiing, traveling and learning about new cultures.
Adeyinka Kayode-Papoola
ALCP Instructor
Adeyinka graduated from the University of Idaho with her MA TESOL. She is from Nigeria in West Africa and taught English there for 15 years. She enjoys learning about the teaching methods in various cultures. As an ESL speaker, she finds the process of second language acquisition very interesting and rewarding (to the ESL teachers). She loves travelling and has been to Britain, Germany and the United Arab Emirates. She also loves spending time with her family.

Laurel Gilbert-Wilder
Laurel Gilbert-Wilder
ALCP Instructor Laurel Gilbert-Wilder got her master’s degree in teaching English as a second language from the University of Idaho in 2005 and has been teaching at the ALCP since then. Previously, she taught ESL part-time in Boise State University’s community education program and worked as a bilingual (Spanish) consultant for the Idaho Department of Labor. She received a bachelor’s degree in English from Brigham Young University-Utah, where she also studied Spanish and Russian. While serving as a missionary in Chile during a year-and-a-half break from school, she became fascinated in working with people from different culture and language backgrounds. Currently she is especially interested in intercultural communication, and has had great experiences designing activities in which her ALCP students can participate in regular University of Idaho classes.

Sarah Silflow
Sarah Silflow
ALCP Instructor Sarah, originally from Idaho, has also lived in St. Petersburg, Russia. She received her B.A. in International Studies from the University of Idaho in 2009 and has studied Russian and Spanish. She completed her M.A. TESL in 2011 and is excited to work at the ALCP. In her free time she enjoys being outdoors, exercising, baking and watching detective shows with her husband. Someday she hopes to travel the world, and see the countries and cultures of her international students.

Tara Sipiora
Tara Sipiora
ALCP Instructor Tara, born in Boise, Idaho, got her B.S. in Communication Studies (with writing minor) from the University of Idaho in 2009. She completed her M.A. TESL in 2011 and is excited to be working at the ALCP with the variety of language learners. She has traveled to Spain, Canada, and many parts of the United States. She is also a language student, speaking some Spanish and Nepali, and starting to learn Igbo and pigeon languages. She enjoys writing short stories and reading modern and classic literature.
