Coordinator's Welcome

Hello.  My name is Kathryn Schiffelbein and I’d like to take the opportunity to introduce myself and our program.  I am the program manager of the American Language and Culture Program (ALCP) at the University of Idaho.  My travels to Western and Eastern Europe, China, and the Mediterranean have instilled in me a desire to work closely with international students in higher education.  Having trained at Western Washington University in teaching English and at the University of Idaho in Adult Organization Leadership Learning, I have dedicated my efforts to increase opportunities for students and staff at the ALCP.

I would like to invite you to review this Web site to learn about our exciting language program. What makes us special is that our students interact with American students in university classrooms while they are studying English.

The ALCP is a small program which allows us to give special, individual attention to each of our students. We welcome students from all over the world as well as transfer students who are studying within the U.S. The ALCP staff and teachers are experienced, friendly, and helpful. We do our best to make sure that you reach your goals and enjoy learning English here at University of Idaho.
