Orientation Schedule

The International Programs Office (IPO) welcomes you to the University of Idaho!

Spring 2014 International Student Orientation Schedule
January 9, 10, 13 & 14

Please be at all scheduled events on time. Use free time to meet with advisors, take placement tests, register for classes, and pay fees.

    *Bring your I-20 or DS-2019, Passport, Visa, I-94 card and Job Offer or Assistantship Letter if they have not been copied yet*

    10:00 am   Exchange Students Pre-Orientation Meeting:  
    Meet your exchange program advisors and get set up for the semester with registration, fee, stipends, etc.  This is only for exchange students working with Colton Oliphant, Holly LaHann or Jill Kellogg-Serna.  Meet at the International Programs Office (IPO).

    Come enjoy a buffet style meal from the universities best chefs! Staff and volunteers will be there to meet you.  Free for new students only.

    1:30 - 3:30 pm Social Security Session (if you have a job offer - you must go to this session anytime between 1:30 and 3:30 pm):
    • If you have a job offer (assistantship or other on campus work), you  can apply for a Social Security Number (SSN).  You must bring a job  offer letter (required for SSN) and all of your entry documents  (Passport, I-94 (print from www.cbp.gov/i94 or DS-2019).
    • If you do not have a job offer and wish to get a driver's license,  then you will need to apply for a Letter of Denial from Social  Security.  You must bring all of your entry documents (Passport,  Visa, I-94 (Print from www.cbp.gov/i94), and I-20 or DS-2019).

     1:30 - 3:30 pm Human Resources:  
    If you have a job offer (assistantship or other on-campus work that is not with Dining Services), you can fill out your Employment paperwork today. Learn about the next steps in your Employment Authorization and speak with Human Resources representatives if you have any questions.

    Representatives from local banks, community resources and campus representatives will be available to answer your questions and help you with settling in to Moscow.

    Vans are provided only to those moving from hotel to UI Residences. Please be ready at the hotel by 9:00 am.  Remember to check out of your hotel by check-out time so you don't get charged extra fees.  You need Vandal ID card to move into your room.

    2:00 pm Shopping Trip to Wal-Mart:
    Buy everything you need to get set up in your new room or apartment in one place!  Van's will leave from IPO and return to IPO.
