Professor, Electrical & Computer Engineering College of Engineering
For Fred Barlow, good things come in small packages. As the lead investigator for millions of dollars in funded microelectronics research, the University of Idaho professor of electrical engineering is working with Micron Technologies, one of the world’s top producers of semiconductors, to enhance the company’s electronic- package designs. He is also collaborating with private industry to create new microelectronic technology that would improve the efficiency and affordability of hybrid- electric vehicles. Respected globally for his expertise, Barlow is distinguished as a fellow of the International Microelectronics and Packaging Society (IMAPS) and as editor-in-chief of the IMAPS journal.
