Board-appointed employees are eligible to purchase an Auto-Renewal Vandal Permit in Gold, Red or Blue, which will automatically renew at the beginning of each academic year. The same physical permit will be valid for multiple years and payment occurs through payroll deductions, which begin automatically at the beginning of each academic year. Deductions spread evenly over 1, 3, 9 or 16 pay periods are available. Permits that cost less than $100 are not eligible for the 16-deduction option.

Annual permits are also available for purchase on an annual basis for purchase in one payment or deductions can be spread evenly over 1, 3, 9 or 16 pay periods. Permits that cost less than $100 are not eligible for the 16-deduction option.

Gold | $435 (2023-24)

Available to board-appointed employees only. Valid in Gold, Red, Orange and Blue lots, and valid for overnight parking (2 a.m. to 6 a.m.) in Gold lots ONLY.

Orange | $321 (2023-24)

Valid in Orange, Red and Blue lots. Not valid for overnight parking.

Red | $212 (2023-24)

Valid in Red and Blue lots. Not valid for overnight parking.

Blue | $103 (2023-24)

Valid in Blue lots only. Not valid for overnight parking.

Temporary | $1- $4/day

Contingent on annual permit availability, one-day and ten-day Gold, Orange, Red and Blue permits are available for purchase online. Eligibility and use of these permits is consistent with eligibility and use of the annual Gold, Orange, Red and Blue permits.

Retiree | $0

Complimentary permit available to honored or emeritus U of I Retirees. Valid in Gold, Orange, Red and Blue lots. Not valid for overnight parking or parking use in disability spaces. Your initial Retiree permit and any subsequent renewals are available online.

Commuter Overnight/Early Morning (OE) | Price Varies

This annual permit is for use by commuting Vandals who need to park on campus between the hours of 2 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. for academic pursuits (study, research, etc.) and/or on-campus employment. Parking before 2 a.m. or after 7:45 a.m. requires the appropriate commuter permit (Gold, Orange, Red or Blue). Commuter O/E permits cannot be combined with Gold, Orange, Red or Blue parking permits to imitate residential parking privileges. Gold permit holders can park overnight in Gold parking lots, but would need a Commuter O/E permit to park overnight in Orange, Red or Blue parking lots. No parking between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. is allowed in Gold parking lots without a Gold or Overnight permit. No parking between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. is allowed in Orange, Red or Blue parking lots without an Overnight permit. Commuter O/E permits are NOT valid in meters, timed spaces, service/delivery spaces, disability spaces, reserved spaces, campus walkway or an area not designated as a parking space.

Permit is $0 for individuals who hold an annual permit or $15 otherwise. Purchase online.

Temporary Overnight permits can be purchased online for $3/day or $0 for individuals who hold an annual permit (limit 10/year). Follow the process as you normally would and then select "OVERNIGHTONLINE" from the menu.

University Apartments (UA) Green | $327 (2023-24)

Available to current residents of University Apartments (Family Housing). University Apartments Green permits are valid in Green lots specified for University Apartment parking and in all Blue lots. They are not valid in Green Lot 22 (Elmwood Apartments). UA Green permits are only valid for overnight parking in UA Green lots. They are not valid for overnight parking in Blue lots. A housing agreement must be completed in order to be eligible to purchase permit.

Elmwood Apartments Green | $327 (2023-24)

Available to current residents of Elmwood apartments. Elmwood Apartments Green permits are valid in Green Lot 22 (Elmwood Apartments) and all Blue lots. They are not valid in Green lots specified for University Apartments parking. Elmwood Apartment Green permits are valid for overnight parking only in Green Lot 22. They are not valid for overnight parking in Blue lots. A housing agreement must be completed in order to be eligible to purchase permit.

University Apartments Visitor | $50 (2023-24)

Available to current residents of University Apartments, intended for use by occasional visitors of residents in University Apartments. Valid only in University Apartments Green lots.

Returns and Exchanges

Annual Parking Permits

Annual parking permits may be returned throughout the year for a pro-rated refund based on the current permit refund schedule. Please visit our office to return your permit.

Annual permits may be returned for a full refund at anytime during the year if the request to refund the permit is received within 24 hours of purchase and the plastic packaging has NOT been opened.

Orange, Red and Blue permits returned prior to the first day of fall semester will be granted a full refund if plastic package has NOT been opened. If package has been opened, the refund given prior to first day of school will be equal to the first week of school refund amount.

Gold and Green permits will never be refunded at full price (unless refunded within 24 hours of purchase and plastic permit package has NOT been opened) since they are required year-round and are valid for use at time of purchase.

Refund amounts for less than $20 will not be given for any permit type, and no refunds will be given after the first week of May; whichever comes first.

Short-term and Temporary Permits

Short-term and temporary permits cannot be returned for a refund.
