ITS Professional Services

Description

The Vandal Card office produces a variety of cards for individuals indirectly or formerly affiliated with the university, and for community members who would like to utilize certain facilities at the University. These cards include student, faculty, and staff spouse cards, Alumni cards, Student Recreation Center cards, Swim Center cards and Climbing Wall cards.

No fee is associated with this service.

Affiliate cards are available to students, faculty, staff, retirees, visitors, affiliates and community members.

Visit the Vandal Card office in room 124 of the Student Union Building (SUB) to get these cards.

ITS Billing Services compiles IT service and communication charges for distribution to UI departments and non-UI entities. The service provides budget review, account maintenance, invoice review and reconciliation and revenue tracking for ITS.

The Business Process Management Service provides a comprehensive workflow solution that can help departments and users streamline and improve efficiencies in their business processes. Anything from simple approval and notification processes to very complex cross-departmental business processes can be created, enhanced and/or improved with this service. The service is tied into the university’s Document Imaging System (Oracle Imaging), but can stand alone when no document imaging solution is required.

No fee is for this service.

Description

ITS provides assistance in database design for business applications utilizing either Oracle or SQL Server RDBMS. Guidance can be provided for both relational and object-oriented database modeling efforts. ITS staff can either assist in the design effort or review completed designs before they are implemented in production. Designs will be evaluated for normalized structure and for performance considerations. Indexing, partitioning, file separation and RAID configuration will also be considered. Assistance for performance tuning issues on existing databases is also available.

Description

Oracle Imaging Service provides a repository to store any electronic documents and easy retrieval and viewing for end users via a web based or installed desktop client. The system allows users to assign identifying values to those documents for easy searching, provides retention schedules for the documents, allows a scanner set up to scan and capture paper documents and provides a wide variety of security options so departments and users can control who can view, print, modify, annotate and redact content on those documents.

There is no fee for this service.

Description

The University Records Center, located in the Pitman Center (Student Union Building/SUB), is available to all UI departments to store their semi-active and permanent records. Banker boxes are available at no charge for departments to use to send documents to the Records Center. Departments maintain ownership of their records stored at the Records Center and may view or remove them at will.

No fee is associated with this service.

Description

Records Management offers consultation and guidance to departments and units, developing a targeted retention schedule based on the Idaho State Board of Education retention periods, and developing and registering with the state record types that don't fit into any SBOE record categories.

Description

ITS provides drop-off scantron scoring for university departments. After scoring reports and data files are provided to the requesting individual once the forms are collected from the IT Help Desk. ITS will make every effort to provide the scoring results within eight business hours after the forms are dropped off. Scantron forms are available for purchase at the UI Bookstore.

No fee is associated with this service.

ITS provides scantron scoring upon request to all current faculty and departments.

Self-Service Information

Faculty and staff request scantron data services by filling out a scantron Drop-Off Form. After filling out the form, the scantrons can be dropped by a designated individual off for scoring at the ITS Help Desk (TLC 128). ID is required for dropping-off and picking-up of tests.

Description

ITS provides overall coordination of technical implementations or other large IT initiatives. This service includes requirement gathering, project scoping, timeline creation and identification and coordination of staffing resources. 

Project manager will work with customer, as well as vendor if applicable, to identify all required activities and resource constraints in order to develop a realistic, achievable timeline. Once established, the project manager will work with project participants to achieve the identified project goals.
