It is important to know the correct wiring when moving offices, rearranging your desk space or plugging in your new phone for the first time. When you turn your phone over, you will see a panel on the back that has at least five cable ports. Besides the power cord, there are only three Ethernet ports you will be using. Use the illustrated diagram to properly assess which cable will go where.
- Use your grey Ethernet cable to connect the wallplate to the port on the back of the phone next to the network symbol that looks like connected squares.
- Use the black Ethernet cable to connect your computer to the port on the back of your phone next to the computer symbol.
- Plug your handset into the Ethernet port next to the phone symbol.
Set up correctly, each port on the phone connect to a different place, including the wallplate, your computer and the handset.
