Dear University of Idaho Alumni and Friends:
It may be summer, but there's no slowing of the pace for the Alumni Association. We've got a full schedule of events this summer to bring Vandals together, including Vandal Night at baseball parks in Denver, Spokane and Boise. We'll also be at Vandal Send-off events around the state to welcome the new class of Vandals coming to campus in the fall.
We're also gearing up for fall - football, Homecoming, Dads' Weekend, law and forestry education reunions.
Go Vandals!

Student Media is the Best
The Argonaut, the University of Idaho's twice-weekly student newspaper, took first place in the General Excellence category for college newspapers in a competition sponsored by the Idaho Press Club.
Staff members from both the Argonaut and BLOT, the student magazine, picked up seven other first-place certificates on their way to collecting more awards than any other college or university in the state for work produced in 2008. The Press Club presented awards in collegiate and professional categories May 2 at its annual banquet in Boise. [more

Honoring Stephen G. Hanks...College of Law Faculty Award of Legal Merit
Vandal alumnus awarded for soaring "Spirit"
The B-2 Spirit stealth bomber is a marvel of modern aviation engineering. In a world where computer technology changes daily, the B-2 remains a vital piece of the United States' arsenal more than 15 years after the first operational aircraft was delivered.
Its departure from traditional design into a giant flying wing created the need for new technology. The demand that it operate at high velocities at low altitudes - fighting high stresses, dynamic pressures and wind gusts - required new materials, new designs and new computer models. After nearly a decade of hard work, the plane was in the air, and Al Myers '69, '71 played a major role getting it there. [more
