On February 24, 2004, Interim President Michael approved the implementation of post-offer medical screening for employees accepting team cleaning specialists or lead positions. Implementing the medical screening program will reduce costs associated with workers compensation premiums and lost time, and increase productivity. It will also help boost morale among the custodial employees, since there will be fewer team cleaning specialists and leads on “light or modified” duty due to on-the-job injuries.
Working with an Occupational Health Specialist at Gritman Medical Center, Human Resources has developed procedures for a medical screening program for successful candidates in the positions of team cleaning specialist and team cleaning lead. The medical screening will occur only after the initial offer of employment has been made to the candidate. Current employees will not be required to have a medical screen if applying for a lead position. If there is a break in service and the former employee applies for a team cleaning specialist or team cleaning lead position, the individual will be required to participate in the program.
Implementation Assistance from Human Resources
The program was developed by Human Resources in coordination with managers from Facilities, Auxiliary Services, the SUB/Commons, and Student Recreation. Human Resources will offer assistance to departments with the implementation of medical screening including sample letters and forms to give to the prospective employee.

Pre-Employment and Random Drug Testing
Positions requiring commercial driver's license (CDL) as part of their job duties are subject to a pre-employment drug/alcohol testing and are placed on the quarterly random drug testing list. The pre-employment drug testing process can be time consuming and may take up to 10 working days to complete. Please contact Human Resources as soon as possible to coordinate the pre-employment testing and coordinate the new employee's start date.
Email Human Resources or call (208) 885-3612 prior to hiring an individual that is required to possess a CDL to perform job duties.
