Processes for Classification of Employees

Supervisors for Student and Temporary Employees

Student and temporary employees are set up by the department through VandalWeb using the following process:

  1. Login to Vandal Web using your Vandal Web userid and password or your V# and PIN.
  2. Click on "Employee Information" under Main Menu
  3. Scroll to Employee Tasks and click on "Supervisor Form"
  4. Enter your departmental timesheet code, hit submit
  5. For those employees who have no supervisor listed, click on the magnifying glass in the timesheet approver V# box
  6. A search feature will open in a separate box
  7. Type in the last name of the employee’s supervisor, click search
  8. Click on the appropriate name and position of the supervisor
  9. The supervisor’s V# and position number floods into the form
  10. Go to your next employee and repeat the process
  11. When you hit update, the information will be saved and the supervisor’s name will appear in the timesheet approver column. Hit update often to save your work.
  12. Repeat the process for each timesheet code in your department/unit. Remember to hit update often to save your work.
  13. When you are finished, scroll to the top and click exit to log out.
  14. The system will log you out if there is 45 minutes of inactivity. If this occurs, just log back in and resume the process. You may change previous entries. Be sure to update your changes.

Reclassification

Reclassifications of Classified positions normally occur when there has been a significant increase in job responsibilities and/or level of complexity of the job. Reclassification decisions are based upon a comparison of the position's assigned duties to the available UI Unique and State specifications. Classification decisions are not based on an employee's job performance or on a comparison to the work that other employees perform. Exempt positions are not subject to the reclassification process.
