Certificate Progress
Each
year, the University Honors Program offers a number of scholarships
for Idaho residents and out-of-state tuition waivers to
non-resident students and international students. The awards
are renewable, contingent on a student’s satisfactory progress
toward and completion of the honors certificate while maintaining
an overall GPA of 3.3. Renewal of scholarship support for students enrolling fall 2006( or before) depends
upon successful completion of the requirements
for the honors certificate by the time of graduation. If
progress towards completion of the full honors certificate
is not satisfactory, funding may be revoked.
Satisfactory progress requires, initially,
successful completion of at least two honors university
core courses during the first two semesters in the honors
program and a total of four honors university core courses
within the first three semesters in the honors program--this
amounts to 12 to 15 honors credits completed by the end
of the third semester. These 12 to 15 honors credits are
to be distributed among honors core courses in the humanities,
social sciences, and science. After successfully meeting
this requirement, to maintain satisfactory progress students
must continue to average at least three honors credits per
semester until the minimum course and credit requirements
for completing the certificate have been achieved. Note
that some honors courses are offered once a year, and students
therefore must plan ahead to arrange class schedules to
accomodate required courses. The honors certificate is awarded
to students who, upon graduation, have completed 27 credits
of required honors courses, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in
those classes.
New awards of such support are also routinely
made to those making good progress toward earning the honors
program certificate. Note that renewals of scholarship support
are determined and processed in June, following evaluation
of coursework completed and grades received.
