Research
Our research has scientific collections from the permanent record for all ecological and evolutionary research that investigates the origin and maintenance of biological diversity. The herbarium organizes several field projects and collecting trips each year. They primarily focused on the vast, undercollected regions of northern Idaho, helping to expand our knowledge of the flora of the interior Pacific Northwest.
The C.R. Stillinger Trust, established in 1957, competitively funds expeditions for the purpose of enhancing collections based botanical research at the University of Idaho and to grow collections in the Stillinger Herbarium. Interested University of Idaho faculty, qualified professional staff, and students (graduate and undergraduate) are encouraged complete and submit an application packet to the University Research Office. Individuals interested in participating in field projects are encouraged to contact us.
