About Greek Life at U of I
Meaningful relationships and your connection to a large community will help you be more successful. Fraternities and sororities have been part of campus life since U of I was founded in 1889. Today, roughly a quarter of all students join one of these organizations to discover a community of peers who share similar values, develop strong friendships and make an impact on campus and beyond.
Greek Life at U of I includes Multicultural Greek Council, Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Council organizations. All understand the unique value that can come from a sisterhood of women or a brotherhood of men navigating the challenges of college and life in general. Greek Life is something that can’t be matched.
Even though there are hundreds of opportunities for you to engage and get involved on campus, few produce a lifelong return on time and energy quite like joining a Greek chapter. U of I’s fraternities and sororities hold formal recruitment in the fall semester. Here, you’ll have a chance to meet potential and current members and learn more about each chapter. Recruitment is open to you both as an incoming student and as a current Vandal.
