about::pledge.program

Welcome to college, the next four years will be some of the greatest, most memorable, and enriching of your life. The first couple of weeks will be the most dynamic of your college career. By pledging Phi Delta Theta International Fraternity you have made the right choice which will lead to a wonderful college education and will allow for many benefits in your lifetime beyond college.
We at Phi Delta Theta are a fraternity rich in principles and values. We were founded on three basic principles of sound learning, friendship, and rectitude. We value these principles highly and try to enlighten those around us with these standards. We have carried these standards for a long time. We are an old fraternity and have grown to be one of the largest international fraternities. We were founded soon after the establishment of The University of Idaho and have become deeply woven into the traditions of the university ever since.
Although we are always looking for good, quality, young men deserving of becoming members of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, we can not instantly grant membership into our fraternity without an education of what we stand for. For this reason we have developed a pledge program that will enlighten the pledges into the history of the campus, university, and our great chapter. It will also give an in-depth view into the responsibilities and privileges of being a member of our fraternity. The program is demanding, but the outcome is worth the time and effort spent. As a pledge you are expected to put forth a fair amount of effort towards successful completion of the program, but success is possible.
The pledge program has been constructed and is coordinated by the Phikeia Educator and Assistant Phikeia Educator. It is an educational program that allows the pledges insight into Fraternity, Chapter, and University operations and history through weekly meetings. Lessons are taught during these meetings covering a wide range of topics in a formal manner. Beyond these lessons, the program works to develop the principles by which we conduct ourselves in our daily life. These standards are learned through social interaction with other living groups, community service, and university events. Within the walls of our chapter house you will continue to learn these ideals while making lifelong friends and everlasting memories with both your pledge brothers and the members. This program is a journey from being an adolescent living at home to becoming an independent man.
We have already chosen Phi Delta Theta and been rewarded with lifelong friends, everlasting memories, and opportunities in and beyond college. By pledging Phi Delta Theta, I know that you can do what is expected of you, but the question is "Are you up to the challenge?" Do you have what it takes to become a Phi? The Standard is Set.
