Hole 1 is a par four dog-leg left with a pond wrapping around the front left side of the green. From the back tee, it plays at 386 yards; if you take your approach shot over the pond it may seem much shorter. Your tee shot should be towards the left two-thirds of the fairway. A drive of 230-260 yards should leave a wedge or a nine iron for your approach shot. A 200-240 yard drive is ideal from the middle tees. The green slopes left and back; the right front would be the safest place to miss.
