National Merit Scholarship

Minimum $50,000

The University of Idaho is the destination for National Merit Scholars. Idaho enrolls more National Merit Scholars than any other institution in Idaho and the second highest number of any public institution in the Northwest.

What does the University of Idaho Merit Scholars Program Offer?

  • Idaho students:  Basic tuition and fees, books as well as room and board each year for 4 years, totaling more than $50,000 over the four years. Funds are from a variety of scholarships.
  • Out-of-State students:  Tuition, fees, books, room and board each year for 4 years, totaling more than $50,000 over the four years. $50,000  plus a full waiver of non-resident tuition. Funds are from a variety of scholarships.
  • While the program offers a minimum scholarship guarantee of funds to cover tuition and fees, books and room and board up to four years, many scholars will receive additional scholarships through a combination of national, state, local and university awards.

Who Qualifies?

  • National Merit Finalists who enroll direct from high school starting in 2008 pursue a University of Idaho degree as a full-time student.
  • The guarantee of scholarship funding up to four years is contingent on maintaining at least a 3.0 cumulative UI GPA and continuous enrollment as a full-time, degree-seeking student.

How to Apply?

  • Simply apply for admission for the 2008-09 school year.
  • Designate the University of Idaho as your first choice school with the National Merit Corporation by May 31, 2008.

Go Idaho!

Go Idaho! is a new University of Idaho scholarship program for Idaho’s best and brightest. Join the top academic freshman class of any Idaho public university.

What does Go Idaho! Offer?

  • Minimum of $1500 in scholarships per year for 4 years, totaling $6,000 in funding over four years. Funding is through a variety of scholarships.
  • Many top students will receive even more than $1500 per year in scholarship funding.

Who Qualifies?

  • Incoming Idaho high school graduates with at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
  • Incoming home-schooled Idaho students with a 25 ACT or 1140 SAT.
  • The guarantee of scholarship funding up to four years is contingent on maintaining at least a 3.0 cumulative UI GPA and continuous enrollment as a full-time, degree-seeking student.
  • Enroll directly from high school to the University of Idaho.
