J.A. and Kathryn Albertson

The J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation has provided $1 million in scholarships to the University of Idaho as part of its "Go On" campaign. The program is designed to motivate the young people of Idaho to prepare for and complete a college education.

There are two important statistics at the heart of the "Go On" campaign. First, Idaho's college completion rate ranks 43rd in the nation among the 50 states. The second statistic is equally alarming: the U.S. college completion rate as a whole is among the lowest in the developed world.

"The foundation is to be commended for launching a comprehensive program to achieve the goals that we share,” said former President M. Duane Nellis. “We appreciate and applaud the foundation’s dedication to educating the citizens of Idaho; this 'student stimulus funding' is an investment that both looks to the future and makes a positive, immediate impact on our economy."

The University of Idaho is not the only recipient of "Go On" scholarship support. The Albertson Foundation distributed a total of $11 million statewide to colleges and universities.
