“A complete Gamma Phi Beta woman is prepared to be a leader, believes
in philanthropy and helping young girls, is committed to personal
academic excellence and values her lifelong membership in Gamma Phi Beta.”
- At the 2002 Convention,
the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority delegates voted to establish a collaborative
relationship with Camp Fire USA as a major new element of our camping philanthropy.
Camp Fire USA is one of the nation's leading not-for-profit youth development
organizations, serving over 650,000 participants annually. Founded in 1910
and headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, Camp Fire provides all-inclusive,
coeducational programs in hundreds of communities across the United States.
As part of Gamma Phi Beta’s commitment to this relationship, the Gamma
Phi Beta Foundation will provide grants to Camp Fire USA for young girls
who otherwise would not be able to attend camp.
- By design, Camp Fire's
programs, including small group experiences, after-school programs, camping
and environmental education, child care and service learning, build confidence
in younger children and provide hands-on, youth-driven leadership experiences
for older youth. All Gamma Phi Beta donations to Camp Fire USA support our
traditional philanthropy of camping for girls. Visit Camp Fire’s website,
www.campfireusa.org.

- Gammie Golf, Xi Chapter’s
biggest fundraiser for Camp Fire USA, is held every fall semester. The tournament
invites members of the Greek community and University of Idaho community
to participate in nine-holes of golf. Gamma Phi Betas serve as caddies for
the teams, and all money raised go towards a local Camp Fire USA camp.
- Other Xi Chapter
fundraisers include a Mom’s Weekend Pancake Feed and a spring Spaghetti
Feed. Funds from both events go towards local charities.
- Xi Chapter has also
adopted a stretch of highway and holds a highway clean up twice a year.
- Gamma Phis participate
in many other community service opportunities around campus, including Relay
For Life, the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, the Humane Society, and Moscow
Mentors.
