I AM Anna Marie Limbaugh

I AM THE PERSON I AM TODAY BECAUSE OF THIS UNIVERSITY. As a third generation Vandal, I grew up hearing about the great experiences Idaho provides its students and alumni. However, I wasn’t sure it was right for me because I wanted to do my own thing. That all changed after a visit to Moscow where I interacted with students and professors on the same campus that my parents and grandparents had called home. That was the day my personal transformation began. In addition to promoting individuality and responsibility, this university empowered me to discover something bigger than myself. I learned that leading is unselfish – it’s about serving others and giving back. This led to two incredible internships: one in the White House and one in the governor’s office. These real-world opportunities, combined with the world-class education I’m receiving, taught me how to become my own person and what it means to be a Vandal. I AM ANNA MARIE LIMBAUGH. I AM THE UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO.

Q&A

Where are you from?
I’m from Fruitland, ID.

What do you plan to do when you graduate?
After graduating, I plan on attending the University of Idaho College of Law so that I may pursue my goal of practicing law within the state of Idaho.

How is the University of Idaho helping you to achieve your goals?
The University is about making strong connections with people – whether that is with other students like me from different backgrounds and majors or with faculty, staff and alumni. I don’t want to say that it’s a network, because that sounds so impersonal to me, but it’s a foundation of support from all sides that brings you opportunities to go further. I grew up in a small town and just the idea that I was selected for internships in the White House and Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter’s office is amazing. These opportunities as well as many others have provided me with not only professional, real life experience, but with critical skills – the ability to think quickly on my feet – and the work ethic needed as a professional. I seriously don’t believe that I would be the same person I am today without the knowledge, support and education I have received from the University of Idaho.

Do you have any comments about your program?
I feel like the University of Idaho has allowed me to become the best I can be. My education encourages leadership and commitment to community and others. I am involved in many organizations on campus – Idaho Government and Politics, U.S. History, the Greek system, and impressionism paintings and art history – and it’s these groups that make me feel like a well balanced individual.
