Scholarships

The University of Idaho offers more than $25 million in scholarship awards annually. Scholarships are given based on merit, financial need, or outstanding achievement in specialized fields. Ranked third in the West among public universities for affordability by Forbes, and we are committed to helping make college affordable.

How to apply

There are no separate applications for scholarships at the University of Idaho and you’ll be automatically considered when you apply for admission.

Dates to know for the awarding process


September - January

Apply for admission and be automatically considered for merit-based scholarships.

December - February

Admitted students who qualify for the Go Idaho and Discover Idaho guaranteed scholarship programs will receive notification of their guaranteed funding level.

January

Apply for other need-based financial aid awards including grants, loans, scholarships and work-study. Beginning Jan. 1 the FAFSA becomes available.
Set up VandalWeb and VandalMail accounts

Feb. 15

Priority date for submitting application for admission and supporting documentation for new first year and transfer students. Funding for some programs including federal grants, loans and  scholarship programs will continue to be available for late applicants.

March

Need-based award eligibility determined for admitted students with a FAFSA on file. In late March new students begin receiving financial aid and scholarship notification.

April

Accept awards on VandalWeb
