Scott conducts applied research and extension programs in beef cattle, range and pasture management. He co-coordinates the Idaho Beef Quality Assurance program and conducts the longstanding Lost Rivers Grazing Academy.

Scott was born and raised in southern Idaho. He earned a bachelor's degree in animal science from Brigham Young University in 1989. He then spent four years in Texas as assistant manager of a purebred Charolais ranch. He returned to Idaho where he earned a master's degree in ag education from the University of Idaho while teaching agricultural science in the Nampa school district. Scott began employment with the University of Idaho Extension in 2000 in the Canyon County office. He transferred to the University of Idaho Extension in 2004 for Owyhee County. He conducts applied research and extension programs in beef cattle management, range and pasture management, and artificial insemination. He has presented in 12 different countries on artificial insemination and beef/dairy topics. He provides artificial insemination, milker and calving schools in Spanish. Scott is also currently serving as the president-elect of the National Association of County Agricultural Agents.
