The Family and Consumer Science Program is a valuable resource for all types of families. Individuals and committees help identify and prioritize needs and issues affecting county residents. Unbiased, research-based information and educational programs are developed and delivered to help support and improve the quality of life for Nez Perce County families.
Inland Northwest Food Hub Project
- Goal is to develop a commercial small business start-up food processing center making it available to north central Idaho, southeastern Washington and northeastern Oregon.
- To find out the needs of potential customers, there is an online user survey and a matching off line survey. To access the survey, go to http://www.InlandNWFoodHub.com
- Support resources: University of Idaho, Washington State University, Walla Walla Community College--Clarkston, Lewis Clark State College
- Looking at a wet kitchen or dry kitchen, not a bake kitchen. Location of the "Hub" is not yet known.
Just in Time Parenting
Just in Time Parenting (JITP), is an outreach innovation that brings quality, research-based information to families at the time it can be most useful and make the biggest difference in their lives. Over the past 25 years, Cooperative Extension faculty in land-grant universities have developed and evaluated an unusually parent-friendly series. Capitalizing on the “teachable moment,” monthly “just in time” newsletters are delivered -- keyed to the age of each parent’s child. A team of Extension professionals from over 30 land-grant universities are transforming these research-based age-paced newsletters into a national interactive Internet resource on parenting.
Extension Nutrition Program

ENP is Idaho's Food Stamp Nutrition Education Program and is designed to help adults with limited resources learn how to stretch their food dollars to provide tasty, low-cost, healthy meals for their families. ENP Nutrition Advisors teach group and one-on-one education lessons to adults and children. The lessons cover basic nutrition, stretching the food dollar, food resource management, and food safety.
Program funding is provided by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service in cooperation with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare Food Stamp Program. For every dollar requested from the USDA Food and Nutrition Service for the operation of ENP, the state of Idaho provides matching dollars in the form of salaries and expenses.

Bring them to the Extension Office for testing, we can usually test them while you wait but plan on leaving them for 24 hours.
