4-H Youth Development

4-H is a national youth development program that focus on healthy living, citizenship and science, engineering and technology. 4-H empowers youth to reach their full potential by working and learning in partnership with caring adults.

Membership

4-H is open year-round to youths ages 5 to 18 without regard to race, creed, gender, marital status, handicaps or disadvantages, economic or ethnic backgrounds.

4-H members ages 8 to 18 years are eligible to participate in all programs offered by 4-H, including competitive activities and events.

Classifications

  • Cloverbuds, 5 to 7 years old
  • Junior, 8 to 10 years old
  • Intermediate, 11 to 13 years old
  • Senior, 14 to 18 years old

Cloverbuds

Cloverbuds is a non-competitive educational program for youth ages 5 to 7 years designed to introduce young children to 4-H in a fun, non-competitive way.

Enrollment

Enroll through the 4-H ZSuites portal. If you have questions about the enrollment process, please contact the UI Extension, Lewis County office.

Lewis County Scholarship Application

Two $500 scholarships will be awarded for the Lewis County Leaders Council Continuing Education Scholarship. The applicant must be a senior in high school, must have completed at least three years of 4-H work in Lewis County and have completed at least one 4-H project their junior year.

Colton Robinson Memorial Scholarship Application

Lewis County 4-H Family Consumer Sciences and Senior Awards

The Senior Award is an award to encourage high school students to continue their participation in non-animal 4-H projects.

The Family and Consumer Sciences Award was created to recognize outstanding 4-H members in the FCS area.

Farm and Forest Fair

The Clearwater Area Farm and Forest Fair provides youth with an understanding of the positive impacts of natural resource-based industries.

UI Extension faculty members collaborate with a broad range of partners who are actively engaged in natural resource-based industries and committed to youth education. This collaboration provides a unique opportunity to tell the natural resource industry story to area youth.

The event is sponsored by UI Extension, including the Idaho, Clearwater and Lewis county offices, Idaho Farm Bureau and Idaho County Commissioners Board. For more information, contact the UI Extension, Lewis County office at 208-983-2667.
