What is Extension Community Development?
UI Extension community development focuses on creating sustainable social and economic systems to improve the quality of life in Idaho’s communities.
University of Idaho Extension faculty focus on programming areas including the following.
Leadership Development and Civic Engagement
Community leaders need skills to address the many changes they face. UI Extension helps to build community leadership through community leadership development raining and skill building training, and non-profit training.
Data Tools for Understanding Communities
This project was designed to assist Idahoans in gaining an understanding of the economic, social, and demographic circumstances of their county in relation to other Idaho counties and to the state of Idaho.
Economic Development, Diversity and Vitality
Organizations, small business and non-profit organizations are vital to the economic health of a community. UI Extension has a number of projects designed to strengthen Idaho’s small communities. Projects include: Customer service classes for supervisors and employees and classes in grant writing.
