Know Your Government

KYG2At the 4-H Know Your Government Conference, held each Presidents’ Day Weekend in Boise, teens in the 8th and 9th grades taking the Exploring Citizenship project learn about state government and the judicial system, the rights and responsibilities of citizens in a democratic society, and participate in a mock legislative session or trial. Those acting as conference reporters in Power of the Press produce a news video and newsletter while learning to appreciate the role of news media in state government and how a newspaper and TV station operate.

Return a second or third year in Advanced Citizenship to help plan the conference as a member of the conference planning committee. Planning committee members are selected at the Know Your Government conference by application and interview.
