4-H Afterschool
4-H Afterschool programs provide hands-on activities in science and technology; visual, cultural and theater arts; crafts; financial literacy; nutrition; food preparation; health and physical activity.
Idaho 4-H Afterschool, begun in 1990 with grant funding, has grown to include half of Idaho’s county extension programs. 4-H Afterschool combines the resources of 4-H Youth Development with community afterschool programs.
4-H Afterschool Programming
4-H Afterschool focuses providing quality programs which offer children opportunities to learn while building life skills. The program’s benefits include
4-H Partners With Communities in Afterschool Programs
4-H offers enrichment activities at existing and new afterschool programs. The enrichment activities vary, but are usually sequential, hands-on, and fun, engaging children and teaching life skills. 4-H assists afterschool programs in forming a 4-H club with volunteer support. 4-H customizes trainings to support afterschool staff development.
Through a unique grant 4-H Afterschool partners with schools and a community center, providing Extension-based afterschool programs. The Children, Youth and Families At Risk grants (CYFAR) fund afterschool in Burley, Caldwell, Potlatch, Plummer and Bonners Ferry.
