University Convocation 2017
The University Convocation is the official welcome and start to the academic year. Some elements of convocation resemble commencement (graduation), which marks the culmination of education at the University of Idaho. In academia, the word "convocation" refers to a ceremonial assembly of the members of a college or university.
The 2017 Convocation ceremony is from 4-5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, in the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center. This year’s convocation message will be delivered by UI alumnus David Vobora, a former NFL linebacker who has dedicated his career to developing performance training for those who have experienced life-altering injuries, especially veterans.
The annual University Lunch is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, on the Commons Plaza.
Convocation is part of UI’s New Student Orientation programming. See the full schedule of events here.
