Overview

Procedures

See General Graduate Regulations in the catalog. In addition, the following applies:

  • The student shall have a committee of three faculty, including the major professor, if conducting a thesis. Otherwise a committee is not required, just the major professor.
  • A qualifying examination is not required.
  • The study plan will adhere to the following guidelines. Exceptions may be approved only by agreement of the major professor and program administrator.

  • A student conducting a thesis will provide a presentation and oral defense to his/her graduate committee. The presentation will be open to the public but the oral defense is restricted to the student and the committee.
  • A non-thesis student will be required to register for 1 credit TM 504 Comprehensive Exam and to fulfill the Final Defense requirement.

Elective Recommendations

It is recommended that students create an area of focus with their electives so that they have a core competency within their program. Though not exclusive, below are some recommended areas of focus:
