The UI-WSU dedicated engineering classroom has just come on line. It was developed for the College of Engineering’s outreach program with the intent of being a free, flexible, faculty-controlled, easy to use, easy to schedule, and extremely high resolution/quality facility to link students, faculty, and administrators at the University of Idaho and Washington State University Colleges of Engineering.
WHY:
The Colleges of Engineering at UI and WSU have created this linked classroom using a high-speed broadband connection to foster the sharing of engineering courses, seminars, and meetings between the two institutions without the need to physically travel between the two campuses. This will benefit students and faculty in cross-listed courses and save time and money for faculty and administrators working cooperatively at the two campuses. This is a stand-alone facility that is not currently linked to Engineering Outreach (EO) classrooms.
COSTS:
At the present time, there are no costs associated with using these facilities or linking courses to and from WSU.
SCHEDULING and TRAINING:
The system is designed to make scheduling, training, and use both convenient and easy.
- Contact EO’s Terri Gaffney (885-6373) to schedule a class, seminar, or meeting.
- Contact EO’s Steve Hall (885-6373) for user training and to get into the facility.
- Contact Barry Willis (885-6373) for policy and utilization issues.
A series of room demonstrations and orientation sessions will be scheduled throughout the semester. By the start of Spring 2010 we hope to have a full schedule of UI-WSU courses in the facility.
ORIENTATION/TRAINING/UTILIZATION:
Contact Barry Willis for more information on facility utilization and orientation.
