Process for College of Engineering Annual Award Nominations — 2017

The members of the College Executive Committee will review and vote on each nomination using the information collected in the form below.

Nomination/Award Categories

  • Outstanding Faculty Award
  • Outstanding Young Faculty Award
  • Outstanding Staff Award
  • Outstanding Graduate Student Award
  • Outstanding Student Publication

Nominations must be received by noon on Wednesday, April 12, 2017.

All award recipients will be announced & given their awards by the dean at the College of Engineering Awards Ceremony at 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m on Friday, May 12, 2017.

Criteria for College of Engineering Annual Awards

  • Eligibility: all College of Engineering full-time faculty
  • Criteria: the faculty member will have shown outstanding teaching, and/or research, and/or service, as exhibited by the nomination package submitted to the committee
  • Nature of Award: a plaque and a monetary gift ($1,000) are presented with each award

Nominations needs to include the following:

  • Nomination sheet filled out
  • Two letters of support

NOTE: a person cannot nominate himself or herself.

  • Eligibility: all non-tenured College of Engineering full-time faculty
  • Criteria: the faculty member will have shown outstanding teaching, and/or research, and/or service, as exhibited by the nomination package submitted to the committee
  • Nature of Award: a plaque and a monetary gift ($1,000) are presented with each award

Nominations needs to include the following:

  • Nomination sheet filled out
  • Two letters of support

NOTE: a person cannot nominate himself or herself.

  • Eligibility: all College of Engineering staff
  • Criteria: the staff member will have shown outstanding job performance, promoting excellence in the department, college and at the university level; will also have shown service to the institution
  • Nature of Award: a plaque and a monetary gift ($1,000) are presented with each award

Nominations needs to include the following:

  • Nomination sheet filled out
  • Two letters of support

NOTE: a person cannot nominate himself or herself.

  • Eligibility: all College of Engineering graduate students
  • Criteria: the graduate student will have shown outstanding teaching, research and/or academic experience
  • Nature of Award: a plaque and a monetary gift ($500) are presented with each award

Nominations needs to include the following:

  • Nomination sheet filled out
  • Two letters of support

NOTE: a person cannot nominate himself or herself.

  • Eligibility: a peer-reviewed publication in 2016 or 2017 with a UI student as the primary author
  • Criteria: the student paper will demonstrate outstanding scholarship including innovation, clarity of writing, and potential impact on society. The student must be enrolled at the time of nomination and the publication must be accepted or published in some kind of peer-reviewed venue at the time of nomination
  • Nature of Award: a plaque and a monetary gift ($500) are presented with each award

Nominations for the student publication award needs to include the following:

  • a PDF or Word file containing the publication
  • where the paper has been reviewed for publication (e.g., the name of the conference or the name of journal)
  • the date or anticipated date of publication
  • a description of the student’s role in the research and publication process

NOTE: The nominator must be a UI College of Engineering faculty member
