The majority of Cordon’s research has been in the field of internal combustion engines, specifically looking at performance and emissions characteristics of various alternative fuels and non-traditional means of ignition. Cordon has also been equally involved in educational research, and is looking forward to working with students in the design sequence. Since 2000, he has served as the lab manager at the U of I for the Small Engine Research Faculty (SmERF) and the Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) shop, where student teams build competition vehicles such as the Clean Snowmobile and the Formula SAE cars.
