Current Research and Activities
  • An update of consumptive water requirements for crops in Idaho
  • Mid Snake River water quality monitoring
  • Wintertime evaporation and evapotranspiration from Idaho rangeland and agriculture
  • Regional advection effects on evapotranspiration using scintillometry and eddy covariance (cooperative effort with the Wageningen Agricultural University, the Netherlands)
  • Developing and testing low-cost datalogging systems for measuring soil water potential of vadose zones and soils
  • Specification of standardized methods for computing evapotranspiration —ASCE Technical Committee on Evapotranspiration in Irrigation and Hydrology
  • Predicting evapotranspiration from large land areas using Landsat satellite imagery and SEBAL energy balance theory
