Senior Design Projects

US 91 and Tyhee Road Intersection

Sponsor: Dan Harelson, Idaho Transportation Department
Students: Uriah Jones, Adam Miles
Faculty Advisor(s): Dr. Dixon

Project Description:

The Idaho Transportation Department, District 5 has identified the need to address the existing capacity and safety related issues at the intersection of Tyhee Road and US-91 in Bannock County, Idaho.  The proposed project will look at a number of improvement alternatives, including options to reduce turning movement conflicts, enhance turning area, and improve sight distance at this intersection: which is heavily used by agricultural interests.  The project must also evaluate and design for removal of guardrail along the westerly side of the intersection, while meeting the requirements of the Fort Hall Irrigation Company.  The project will evaluate existing traffic operations and safety, project future (20-year) travel demands, develop various alternatives to address the existing and future deficiencies, and design the preferred alternative.
