Project Description:
The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) has identified a need for improvements to the intersection of Meridian Road and Main Street Meridian to improve intersection capacity, traffic circulation, accessibility, safety and the overall quality of the traffic operations in the area. This project includes the following aspects civil engineering:
- traffic operations and analysis
- intersection channelization
- roadway design
- hydrologic analysis and storm water design
- traffic signal design
ACHD requests the development of four intersection alternatives to accommodate the forecasted traffic demand. They also request an increase in separation of the existing Meridian Road intersections at Waltman Lane and Main Street, which requires the relocation of Waltman Lane. Several alignment alternatives should be considered. Prepare a Concept Design Report describing the alternatives, traffic analysis results and property impacts. Prepare concept-level exhibits of the alternatives. A CADD file of the survey topography and right-of-way with a rectified aerial photo will be provided for design and preparation of exhibits.
A preferred alignment alternative will be selected for design. The design tasks will include drainage, roadway design and traffic signal design. Generate horizontal and vertical profiles for the proposed alignment. Design proper roadway striping and identify the necessary signing for the proposed alignment. Determine the proper location of a small storm water retention/detention facility and design it for the appropriate design storm event. Design the traffic signal improvements at the Main Street and Meridian Road intersection, locating poles, mast arms, vehicle and pedestrian signal heads, pedestrian pushbuttons, signing and intersection safety lighting. All design will be performed in a CADD environment. Ada County Highway District design standards will be followed.
