Engineering on the Road
Over the summer I had the enjoyable opportunity to visit with many of our distinguished alumni: Art and Sheila Humphrey in Cambridge, MA, Bob and Dolores Griffith in Spokane Valley, and over 25 engineering alumni at the North Idaho Vandal Celebration in Coeur d'Alene including Karl Klages and Sheila Janssen Klages, Jim and Jerre Coleman, Dean and Cindy Haagenson, Paul and Jeanie May, Brandon and Mandy Enevold, Remy and David Newcombe, Jerry and Linda Boyd and Krista Brown.
Thank you to many of our corporate partners that hosted us for lunches, tours and collaborative meetings: Itron in Liberty Lake- General Manager Michael Scarpelli and alumni Greg Paulitz, Eric Benson, Jeff Delamater, Rodney Waller, Deatly Butler and Cristy Izatt; Wagstaff Engineering in Spokane, CEO Kevin Person, and alumni Paul May, Michael Anderson, Bill Creer, and Jeff Smutny; Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories in Pullman alumnus and Vice President David Whitehead, engineering advisory board member Bob Morris, Dennis McGreevy and electrical and computer engineering (ECE) advisory board member Normann Fischer; and NAVSEA (Naval Base Acoustic Research Detachment) in Bayview with alumnus and Detachment Director and ECE advisory board member Alan Griffitts. A second thank you goes to our alumni and corporate partners who are so dedicated to the College of Engineering and expend great time and effort on our behalf.
It was wonderful having our engineering Golden I's on campus earlier this month to celebrate 50 years since graduation. We enjoyed visiting with them at all the alumni events, a tour of our facilities and at the football game. Congratulations to this year's Golden I's: Chuck Peterson, Jack Swearengen, Everett Baily, Roy Doupe, Paul Krogue, Jerry Metcalf, David Ross and James Storm. We also followed the football team to Houston and had the pleasure to visit with Charles Sievert, Bob and Alison Harrell, David and Sally Powers, John and Kathleen Carson, Mike Reiner, Lucinda Lomas, Bill Hicks, Matt and Jean Wigle and their children Alison and Michael, Bill and Sharon Davis and Ted and Patty Cammarata.
