Undergraduate Academics
The mechanical engineering
program at the University of Idaho is designed to prepare students for
entry into professional practice and for continuing education at the master's
and doctoral levels. The engineering sciences, physical sciences, mathematics,
communications, humanities, and social sciences are the basis for the curriculum.
The program also includes specialized courses in thermal sciences and applied
mechanics. Development of creative ability in design and synthesis of components
and systems is an important part of the curriculum. Computer applications
are emphasized in course work. Students are encouraged to develop individual
interests through the selection of technical electives.
