Assessment Requirements
PRAXIS II
You must pass all Praxis exams required for certification by the start of the semester before your internship. Placement coordinators will not begin to secure an internship placement until all passing scores are on file. It’s important to note that you need to take the Praxis II paper-based test (except foreign language, which is computer based.) Reference this requirements sheet (download .pdf) regarding which test(s) are required for your major. It’s imperative to request that the University of Idaho and the Idaho State Department of Education receive a copy of your scores.
For more information on the Praxis II, see their website at www.ets.org/praxis.
IDAHO COMPREHENSIVE LITERACY ASSESSMENT (ICLA)
The ICLA is a three-part assessment designed to measure a student's ability to teach literacy. This test is required for all those seeking certification in elementary education, special education and early childhood education.
The assessment is divided into three sequential standards. Standards I and II must be passed prior to student teaching/internship, and Standard III may be taken before or during the internship but must be passed before certification is granted.
Standard I - taken the same semester as EDCI 320.
Standard II - taken the same semester as EDCI 322.
Standard III - taken the same semester as EDCI 466.
Contact your advisor and check back often for more information regarding registration, dates and locations of the ICLA by viewing the ICLA Information page.
