College of Education National Rankings Rise Again

Written by Cheryl Dudley

MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Idaho College of Education has been ranked in the top 100 best graduate school programs in the nation by US News and World Report for the second year in a row. This year the College ranked 74th in the nation – up from 87th last year.

“I trust the college will continue to rise in the rankings, and create distinctive and innovative programs that will serve students and the nation,” said Interim Dean Jerry McMurtry.

The U.S. News & World Report rankings are designed to help students search for premium education programs. College juniors and seniors who are considering graduate school benefit from the rankings, which provide relevant information that helps inform their decisions about where to attend.

Rankings are based on a number of factors, including 25 percent for peer assessment, 15 percent for superintendent assessment, 15 percent for student selectivity and 30 percent for research activity. The College of Education’s high ranking speaks to the cutting-edge research by faculty as well as the premier reputation of the college and the success of its graduates.

“We are continuing to focus and offer distinctive programs that meet the needs of Idaho and the nation,” said McMurtry. “We are partnering with other institutions to strengthen our programs and continue to be one of the early adopters of program reform based on national initiatives.”
