For Parents

Letter to Parents

At Northwest Nations Upward Bound, we believe that every high school student in America should have the right to pursue a college education. The U.S. government agrees, which is why programs like Upward Bound exist in our country.  Upward Bound helps equal out the playing field by providing free college preparatory services to our participants and their families. We strive to demystify the process and help our participants overcome the academic and financial challenges associated with pursuing a college education.

Nations scholars are expected to work hard and actively engage in their own education. Scholars should come to us with a dream and the willingness to roll up their sleeves and work hard to make that dream a reality. It is important that your child understands that the services we provide won’t make a difference in anyone’s life without genuine dedication and effort on their part. Scholars get out of the program what they put into it.

As the first in my family to graduate from college, I can appreciate how overwhelming it can be to plan for college and how challenging it can be to find a way to pay for it. Nations is eager to help make your child’s path to college a little less confusing and a lot more enjoyable than it would otherwise be.  If you need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact the Nations Outreach Coordinator serving your community.

On behalf of all of us at Nations, thank you for your family’s interest in Upward Bound.
