Dance

The curriculum leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Dance offers students the opportunity to specialize in performance, choreography and/or teaching.

The program is designed to prepare students for a professional role in the dance field by providing professional training in teaching, performing, choreography and concert production.

The Center for Dance offers all levels of ballet, modern and jazz and classes in social dance, world dance, tap, hip hop and somatics. We also offer courses in history, pedagogy, production, Laban studies, choreography and performance studies.

Course work also includes the HPRD Core covering issues of injury prevention, health and nutrition, leadership skills and community program planning.

Students are able to draw on courses in a number of related fields, such as theatre and music, to enhance their education and individual goals.

Dance students end their training with a senior project geared at preparing them for life after graduation.
