School Counseling
A New Future
The Leadership and Counseling department prepares school counselors for Idaho certification. Beginning in 2012, we will launch a new future for this distinguished professional program.
Once part of the CASP program (Counseling And School Psychology), the new School Counseling program will be given the course prefix CRC (Counseling and Rehabilitation Counseling) as part of a programmatic reinvestment in counseling for K-12 practitioners and rehabilitation and community counselors. The school psychology curriculum and Educational Specialist degree will no longer be offered.
The School Counseling cohort based course-of-study will admit new students in 2012. We are currently accepting inquiries about the program, which is being revised from a 34 credit to a 48 credit curriculum. We will be seeking candidates who are dedicated to K-12 counseling as a career that provides students with career guidance, personal growth, and academic advocacy as part of a K-12 professional leadership team.
