Welcome to Leadership and Counseling Department. As a graduate studies department our mission statement is to:

The department mission statement aligns with the University's Strategic Signature emphasis on Human Communities. Leadership and Counseling teaching and research focus on human experience and how people create environments to advance their human conditions and improve quality of live over a lifetime.
We offer five graduate programs—Educational Leadership, School Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling and Human Services, Adult Organizational Learning and Leadership, and the Professional Practitioner Doctorate.
Our Educational Leadership is approved by The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Idaho State Board of Education. We prepare K-12 principals, administrators, and superintendent through the Master of Education, Educational Specialist, Doctor of Education (EdD) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
The School Counseling program is approved by The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Idaho State Board of Education. For the 2011-2012 year, it is being revised as a 48 credit Master of Education degree. A new cohort will be admitted in the fall of 2013.
Our Rehabilitation Counseling and Human Services program is accredited by the Council on Rehabilitation Education and the Idaho State Board of Education. It will be offered at the Coeur d’ Alene and Boise centers as a 60 credit Master degree beginning fall 2012. Additionally, we will offer a Category R certificate in 2013.
The Adult Organizational Learning and Leadership program prepares entrepreneurial and public agency leaders through the Master of Education, Master of Science, Educational Specialist, Doctor of Education and Doctor of Philosophy. It also offers certificate programs in Human Resources. While it does not require accreditation, it has gained quality recognition for its curriculum.
Our Professional Practitioner Doctorate is a new venture, located in Rexburg. It is an innovative EdD cohort partnership with BYU-Idaho and other educational agencies. You can learn more about it on our website.
The Leadership and Counseling department delivers classes online, hybrid, and live, serving students throughout the state and nation. We look forward to learning and leading with you.
