The University of Idaho’s Secondary Education program is committed to providing students with meaningful, real-world experiences that will help them to become the best teachers they can be. These experiences are planned and coordinated throughout a student’s course work at the University of Idaho to enhance their contact with people and help them to practice the “art” and “science” of teaching and learning.
Hands-on experiences and experiential, collaborative learning are also fundamental elements to a unique approach to teaching that you will experience throughout your education studies on the University of Idaho Moscow campus.
Students receive numerous opportunities for hands-on experience through service learning and partnerships with local schools. The last year of the program involves student teaching or Internship. Many of our students opt to student teach in their own hometowns, but some have taken the opportunity to student teach in other countries, providing them with rich, multicultural experiences. Your
teaching internship allows you to put your education into practice under the guidance of a teacher mentor and will assure that you are fully prepared to meet the demands of teaching in your own classroom.
