Elementary and middle school teachers are in demand. A B.S. Ed. in Elementary Education prepares teachers to work with students in grades K-12. As part of the Elementary Education Program students will also complete requirements for a subject area endorsement as outlined by the Idaho State Board of Education requirements for a Standard Secondary Certificate. This endorsement will allow our graduates to teach in a particular subject area in grades 6 –12 in Idaho.
Competitive salaries with full benefits combined with summers off make elementary teaching a desirable career option. With free summers, teachers can pursue professional development opportunities, go on extended vacations, or become involved in community activities. The B.S. Ed. in Elementary Education degree “travels well” and our teachers are hired throughout the United States and overseas. So, our elementary education graduates can often find a job where they choose to live, rather than living where the work is found.
